Treasurer Oaks issues statement on U.S. Department of Treasury’s “Principles for Net-Zero Financing & Investment”

SALT LAKE CITY – September 21, 2023 – Utah Treasurer Marlo M. Oaks has issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Treasury’s “Principles for Net-Zero Financing & Investment.”

The U.S. Department of Treasury’s “Principles for Net-Zero Financing & Investment” are yet another example of what Benito Mussolini identified as Corporatism, the merger of State and corporate power.

The net-zero climate pledges signed onto by the banking, insurance, and investment industries and advocated for in the Treasury’s Principles will ultimately replace our free market system with Corporatism. This is about power and control. We must all stand up to this, or we will lose our free institutions.

The best way to fight climate change is with free market innovation.
